Hi, my name is Ma. Rosario Racho, an incoming graduating veterinary medical student at the University of the Philippines College of Veterinary Medicine based here in Los Banos, Laguna. We have an on-going project in our zoonoses class for a Facebook campaign to sign on more volunteers nationwide for the eradication of rabies (url: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Rabies-Free-Philippines/427950063968609). In line with that, I would like to inquire (in behalf of my class) how the province of Marinduque was able to accomplish the rabies-free status, and what advice would you give to other provinces (as well as on-going and starting campaign efforts) for the successful eradication of rabies.
Thank you and more power!
Ma. Rosario S. Racho

Hello, this is Josue M. Victoria – Provincial Veterinarian of the Island Province of Marinduque….the procedure we made to eradicate rabies in our island is already here in our website….our advice to other provinces, cities & municipalities? they are all aware on how we achieved our rabies freedom, we have an annual meeting of Provincial, City & Municipal Veterinarians all over the Philippines, it was recently held in Cagayan De Oro (May 27 to 31, 2013). Aside from the previously mentioned meeting of Vets, the DA-Bureau of Animal Industry is holding a Rabies Summit two times a year to update other provinces on the advances of other provinces with the their rabies eradication effort. I must say that the success of our rabies eradication project was attributed to the reduction of our dog population. We are into mass spaying & neutering of dogs and cats to maintain our rabies freedom……we are encouraging senior clinicians to volunteer with this activity…and i am cordially inviting you and your peers to be with us in our spay & neuter activities here in Marinduque.
If you have other concern….just e-mail dr. josue m. victoria at email@example.com
